About Five Petal

Our name and mark
Why Five Petal?
Coffee flowers are beautiful, elegant and fragrant. They mark the beginning of coffee’s long journey from the farm to your cup. Our name and stylized five-petaled logo are a reminder of that beginning.
We want that journey to finish with the same beauty, elegance and fragrance. Sourcing, roasting and brewing are how we work to preserve what makes each coffee distinctive.

Sourcing with intention
We seek clean, delicious coffees with a distinct sense of place. We’re interested in how a producer’s choices, the growing conditions and the processing show up in the cup.

Roasting with precision
We develop each coffee through many rounds of roasting and tasting. We compare the results, make precise adjustments, then roast and taste again. That repeated work is how we refine the profile for each lot.
Ultra light to light
Some of our coffees are truly ultra light by most standards; others sit at the very light to light end of the spectrum. These terms vary between roasters. We develop each lot for sweetness and well-defined flavors, keeping roast character from obscuring the coffee’s nuances.

Brewing and evaluation
We’re equipment enthusiasts, too. Our primary cupping and evaluation grinder is a KafaTek M98V with CRV4 burrs. We also use a Monolith Max 3 SLM. For pour-over, we use CAFEC Flower Drippers and Abaca filters.
You don’t need our equipment to enjoy the coffee. We share our recipes and water choices so you can compare notes, adjust your brew, and tell us what you’re tasting.
