What Wows Us About This Coffee

Sweet pastry and caramel flavors are so apparent in this coffee. You want to keep drinking this one! This beautiful Esmeralda offers a decadent profile that is a nice contrast to the bergamot and jasmine dominant Panama geishas.

Farm, Lot and Process Details

Durazno 4 FB was harvested from the Durazno lot located in Hacienda La Esmeralda’s El Velo farm. The word Durazno means peach in Spanish. After harvest, the coffee cherries were depulped and fermented in a low temperature room for 120 hours, then slow dried for 22 days on raised beds

Producer and Region Details

Hacienda La Esmeralda is arguably the most iconic name in specialty coffee. Located in the highlands of Boquete, Panama, this family-run estate, led by the Peterson family, skyrocketed to fame in 2004 when they "rediscovered" the Geisha variety. Their entry in the Best of Panama competition that year stunned the world with its elegant, jasmine-like aromatics, shattering auction records. This legacy of excellence continues, with one of their Geisha lots recently setting a new world record at the 2025 Best of Panama auction with an astounding $30,204 per kilogram (over $13,700 per pound). Today, Hacienda La Esmeralda remains a global benchmark for quality and is synonymous with the terroir, meticulous processing, and extraordinary cup profile that defines the very best of Panamanian Geisha.
